CMC/Card-Monroe Corp celebrated its 30th year of operation in 2011 with significant gains in the carpet tile tufting machinery market. CMC’s historical dominance and continued growth in this segment of the market is due to the success of machines such as 1/6 and 1/6 gauge and 1/8 and 1/4 gauge Infinity patterned loop and now with the introduction of its ColorPoint machine to carpet tile.

Brad Card, CMC’s director of sales and marketing, said: “We have seen a growing interest and demand for our ColorPoint machine, with its pinpoint stitch accuracy, precise colour placement and full gauge coverage with no buried ends. This gives the resulting carpet an unmatched combination of colour, style and durability. It was one of the front and centre attractions at the Neocon 2011 World Trade Fair.”

CMC said it is also seeing continued market success with its high speed turf machines. With machines in more than 15 countries and 80% of leading artificial turf manufacturers operating CMC brand machines, this segment is still experiencing global growth, it added.

The chain driven Concept 2003 needle drive system has a high load capacity combined with a solid cast machine frame, minimising the vibration that typically occurs when running higher pile heights at maximum speeds, said CMC.

Less vibration allows the CMC high speed turf machines to run well within their capacity at 600+ rpm even at maximum pile heights, said the company.

The advent of extrusion technology for solution dyed polyester yarn has opened up new markets for low cost production of cut pile carpet. CMC has sold several high speed cut pile machines to meet this demand.

These machines can produce carpet at shifting speeds up to 1400 rpm. These speeds are attainable in part because of the Concept 2003 needle drive mechanism, said Card-Monroe. They also feature CMC’s Advanced Cutting System II, said to have guaranteed dimensional accuracy, extremely close tolerances and be easy to use.
